As the 4th quarter approaches, everyone is looking for money to start next year off strong. Here are 6 September grants for your New York organization that will help you get a leg up in 2027.
Creative Equations Fund
The Brooklyn Arts Council’s Creative Equations Fund is a fund dedicated to Brooklyn-based creatives and arts for community impact. They are offering $10,000 to artists, small arts organizations, cultural entrepreneurs, and social justice researchers in Brooklyn. The fund opens on September 4th and will accept applications until November 7th.
Find Your Light Foundation
The Find Your Light Foundation is an arts education organization founded by actor Josh Groban looking for arts non-profits with programming for K-12 students. Find Your Light provides up to $5000 for first-time grantees. They have a high acceptance rate, with around 40% of applicants receiving funding. Applications for 2027 open September 1st and close October 15th.
Brooklyn Org Foundation
Brooklyn Org provides support for organizations that address racial injustice and social inequality. They grant $45,000 per year for up to three years. They’re looking for community based groups that prioritize advocacy, coalition-building, and base-building. They accept applications year-round, but the current semi-annual window, which will provide funds to grantees in May 2027, closes on September 30th.
First Presbyterian Church
The First Presbyterian Church of New York has outreach and service grants for non-profits in social justice areas including, but not limited to, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights, poverty, racial injustice, and environmental stewardship. Grants go up to $10,000 and applications close September 30th.
Saint Thomas Church
Another Church fund, the Vestry of Saint Thomas Church Fifth offers grants to nonprofits in New York City and select New York counties. They offer up to $5000, but they will rarely consider applications for more as well as for multi-year funds. Applications open on September 1st and grants are awarded in June 2027.
Lower Manhattan Community Council
LMCC’s Manhattan Arts Grants provide funds to artists and artist groups to support their pursuits and bring them to the public. The application details for the 2027 grant cycle are currently unannounced, but will launch this September.
