Self Defense Sundays for Black August at TFBWL

Every Sunday in August 2026 at 3:00 PM, Self Defense Sundays will take place in the reading room at 226 Marcus Garvey Blvd., Brooklyn, NY. To uphold the Black August tradition’s emphasis on physical training, the programs are taught in association with the Dragon Combat Club.Every Sunday in Black August at 3 PM, everyone is welcome to participate in self-defense instruction at The Free Black Women’s Library.Partner: Guided by Dragon Combat Club teachers.Focus: A living example of Black August’s radical spirit, discipline, and physical training principles (Study, Fast, Train, Fight).Prepare by dressing comfortably so you may move, stretch, and perspire. Everyone in the community is welcome.
