Brianna Thomas is one of this era’s most explosive jazz voices, noted for her extraordinary talent, emotional depth, and creative variety. Hailed by Vanity Fair, The New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, and DownBeat Magazine, she captivates audiences with a voice that sounds as if she is inventing each song at the moment. An acclaimed vocalist, whose sound is rooted in Black American and Afro-diasporic musical traditions are the foundation of the sound of The Brianna Thomas Band, which is led by renowned vocalist, educator, bandleader, and composer Thomas. DownBeat Magazine rated their 2020 album Everybody Knows “Best of the Best.” In celebration of her artistic brilliance, the City of Pittsburgh declared February 22 to be “Brianna Thomas Day” in 2023. Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Jon Batiste, Victor Wooten, Wycliffe Gordon, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller, Craig Harris, and The Urban Bushwomen are just a few of the well-known musicians with whom she has performed, worked, and recorded since graduating.
