What We Can Expect From The Purple Rain Broadway Musical?
The upcoming musical will be narrated from the original 1984 film, Purple Rain. The film won Prince an Academy Award for Best Original Film Score.
The musical follows The Kid, a talented but very troubled Minneapolis rock musician who has to navigate his difficult home life, local trouble in the local club scene, and working hard everyday to achieve fame.
Just like the movie, the Broadway musical will feature the actors playing their own instruments live to recreate Prince’s same concert energy that happened when he did the Purple Rain tour.
Producer Orin Wolf also confirmed that every piece of music during the show will be created in front of the audience from the actors themselves.
