Jazz on the Plaza | Back to School Edition: Juilliard Jazz Ensemble

The public outdoor plaza at 601 Lexington Avenue has hosted Jazz on the Plaza for more than 20 years. The public is welcome to attend these free midday concerts. A lot of folks either pack their own lunch or buy it from one of the many local vendors. Although every attempt is made to host Jazz on the Plaza outside, bad weather may force the event to be moved inside to the Sanctuary of Saint Peter’s Church, where attendees are urged not to bring food or open beverages.Concerts start at 12:30 PM and last for approximately one hour. In September, local collegiate jazz ensembles are shown as a means of promoting the continued growth of upcoming jazz performers. The festival showcases some of the city’s top professional jazz musicians over the months of July and August. A variety of groupings and styles, from little trios to massive big bands, are carefully presented.
