Learn Double Dutch and Watch Championship Teams Perform at Lincoln Center

Spend a summer afternoon jumping rope and celebrating the culture of Double Dutch with two free back to back events at Lincoln Center. As part of Summer for the City, New Yorkers can learn the fundamentals of jumping rope before staying to enjoy the freestyle performances and an open jump session.
The afternoon begins at 4:00 pm with Foundations of Double Dutch, a beginner-friendly workshop that teaches participants the basic techniques of jumping, turning the ropes, and working together. The workshop is open to all experience levels, giving both first time jumpers and experienced participants the opportunity to practice their skills.
At 5:00 pm, the Double Dutch Fusion Freestyle & Open Jump continues the festivities with championship Double Dutch teams from the National Double Dutch League. Guests can watch freestyle demonstrations, experience the athleticism and creativity of experienced jumpers, and take part in an open jump session.
Both events are free and open to the public, making this an opportunity for families, young people, and adults to get active, learn something new, and experience a tradition with deep roots in New York City and Black communities.
